ACCEPTING CLIENTS at our Memorial office

Hello, my name is Amanda Irons!  I am a Clinical Intern here at Healing Pathways of Houston.

For my undergraduate degree, I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Sam Houston State University. I am currently working towards my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a certificate in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling at Sam Houston State University.

Have you ever felt your emotions overrun your mind at times or you don’t totally understand why you do the things you do? If so, you are not alone. Sometimes we as humans need a little help to figure out what is going on. We need to step back, take a breath, and look at the whole picture.

During our time together, I will meet you where you are and I will provide a warm, comforting and judgement free environment. Together we will explore your challenges that are keeping you from your most authentic self. As a Gestalt therapist, my goal is to help you gain more awareness, help you learn more about your emotions, how to gain more control over them and to help you become more empowered to live the life you want to live. When working with children I provide a non-directive approach that gives the child the ability to lead the session wherever they need it to go. Also, at times I will introduce activities that promote creativity and self-exploration that can help with addressing the client’s present needs. Utilizing this approach allows the child to learn and grow in self-esteem and confidence just to name a few of the many benefits.

When working with couples and families, my goal is to help bring each of you closer together by helping you to better understand each other, and by exploring each person's thoughts and feelings in their own time. I aim to help you grow together and individually to have a stronger and healthier relationship. This process may get tough, but it can be very rewarding. However, you have already done the hardest and strongest part, which is asking for help.

In my free time, I enjoy going on walks, watching sports including the Astros, reading, visiting Major League Baseball parks, riding roller coasters, exercising, spending time with my friends, family, and my dogs.

Please feel free to schedule a FREE 15 minute consultation with me or for an appointment. I look forward to meeting you soon!
