Meet Our Founder

Hi! I’m Mallory Striesfeld—Licensed Professional Counselor–Supervisor (LPC-S #73192), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (#202439), and owner of Healing Pathways of Houston. I’m currently under the supervision of H. Barry McCarty, M.S., LMFT-S, LPC-S as I complete my LMFT licensure.

I’m a big believer that mental health doesn’t have to feel intimidating to be meaningful. You might’ve seen some of my social media content where I blend pop culture with therapy concepts—because sometimes the best way to understand ourselves is through something familiar (and maybe even a little fun).

Who I Work With

I love working with children, teens, and adults —especially when it comes to:

  • Building self-esteem

  • Learning coping skills

  • Navigating self-harm struggles

I also work closely with couples and families navigating:

  • Chronic illness

  • Grief and loss

  • Conflict and relationship challenges

With advanced training in play therapy and child-parent relationship training, I aim to meet people where they are—whether that’s through play, conversation, or creative connection.

So...What’s This Actually Like?

Therapy with me is collaborative, supportive, and most importantly, human. We’ll do meaningful work—and yes, we’ll probably laugh and cry. Let’s be real — feeling a range of emotions is totally normal!

I’m always learning (truly—I can’t help it), whether that’s through research, trainings, or supervising future therapists. My goal is to make sure you feel seen, heard, and genuinely supported every step of the way.

I also bring a personal understanding of chronic illness into my work. As someone living with Type 1 Diabetes and Endometriosis, I get how complex that journey can be—for you and for the people who love you. That same lived experience extends into my work and passion with maternal mental health. As a new mom myself, I can honestly say — this season is no joke! It’s beautiful, messy, exhausting, and everything in between. While I may not be able to help you tackle that endless pile of laundry (still working on my own), I can support you in reconnecting with yourself.

A Few Fun Facts

  • I have rescue cats…plural. They’re bio brothers and were supposed to be fosters. Oops!

  • Stark and Logan will occasionally make surprise appearances in virtual sessions and consider themselves part of the therapy team.

  • Yes, I was in a Marvel phase of life when I named them.

  • I really enjoy making mental health content that actually makes sense in real life. Think Super Mario and Star Wars emotion charts!

Beyond the Therapy Room

I’m a guest lecturer and public speaker. I absolutely love sharing mental health knowledge in ways that are engaging and accessible. I’ve been featured on Channel 2 KPRC, Houston Matters with Craig Cohen, KRBE’s Roula Show with Eric, and with organizations like JDRF.

If you’re looking for a speaker on mental health, chronic illness, parenting, or play therapy—I’d love to connect.

Supervision and Training

One of my biggest passions is supporting future therapists. This is one of the main reasons I chose to create Healing Pathways of Houston. My goal is to help make training more accessible.

As a board-approved LPC-Supervisor in Texas, I provide supervision for LPC Associates and Master’s-level interns. We’ve partnered with programs like Sam Houston State, Lamar University, and the University of Houston systems—and we’re always excited to grow.

If you’re eager to learn, we’re excited to teach!
