*Welcoming New Clients

Hello! My name is Ryan and I am an LPC-Associate here at Healing Pathways of Houston.

I keep things calm and casual, favoring a humanistic approach that focuses on addressing concerns by treating you as the expert of your own experiences. I may also draw on other orientations at times to address the unique needs of each client, including modalities like existential, ACT, and Sandtray. Regardless of the individual, I work to establish a strong therapeutic relationship built upon collaborative goals to achieve the client's ideal version of wellness. I do my best to ensure that my clients feel respected and in control of how we approach their therapy at all times no matter what their reasons for seeking counseling may be.

When working with younger adolescents and children, I typically implement a mix of non-directive and “outside of the box” techniques that allow for children to lead the sessions as they see fit, as well as offer creative, engaging activities intended to address different concerns depending on their unique needs. Caregivers, of course, play a major role in treatment as well, and I make a point to involve them as often as is appropriate.

I am passionate about supporting adults aged 65+ and helping to address common concerns such as bereavement, social isolation, loss of independence, and other significant life changes that come with aging. I also enjoy helping clients of all ages and populations work through anxiety, depression, difficult life transitions, career concerns, and trauma.

I received my counseling training at Sam Houston State University, where I studied to obtain an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a certification in Play Therapy. Prior to pursuing a career in counseling, I graduated from Texas State University with a B.S. in Biochemistry and worked in biopharmaceuticals for a short time.

In my free time I like to read, play the piano (poorly), play dungeons and dragons, and spend time outside with my dog.

Seeking support can be difficult, and I commend for taking the first step by exploring your options. If you’d like to schedule a free 15-minute consultation with me, I’d love to meet you and learn more about your reasons for seeking counseling.
