*Welcoming New Clients

Hey! My name is Sophie Synek! I can’t wait to get to know you!

My goal is to meet you exactly where you are. As a person-centered therapist, I want to get to know your life’s story and empower you to live out your most authentic narrative. My office is a judgment-free zone because I believe everyone is doing the absolute best they can with what they have. Instead of considering myself the expert, I believe that you already have all the tools inside of you that you need to be the best version of yourself. Together, we can navigate your story while promoting self-exploration and growth.

For my undergraduate degree, I studied psychology and business at The University of Oklahoma- Boomer Sooner! I graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) in May of 2025 and received a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. I was a board member of the Family Therapy Student Association (FTSA), helping to encourage continued learning outside of the classroom and providing services to the local community. I am working towards full LMFT and LPC licensure under the supervision of Dr. Elizabeth Miller, Ph.D, LPC-S, LMFT-S. In addition to my clinical practice, I collaborate on research with Children’s Mercy Hospital examining how primary care providers discuss mental health and medication side effects with patients diagnosed with epilepsy.

My experience includes working with clients experiencing anxiety, body image issues, grief, negative self-talk, chronic illness, intrusive thoughts and compulsions, life-transitions, and relational difficulties. I recently became certified as an EMDR-trained therapist to help clients reprocess “stuck” traumatic memories, reducing their emotional charge and allowing for natural healing. I enjoy seeing couples for pre-marital or post-marital counseling, as well as adults, teens, kids, and families. I am passionate about creating a safe and inclusive therapeutic space that allows us to celebrate diversity and personal strengths.

In my free time, you can catch me doing Orange Theory classes, playing golf, dancing, thrifting, spending a day in the park, or hanging out with friends and family. Bonus points if there is live music! As your therapist, I will always encourage self-care, even in the little moments!

Making the first move can be nerve-wracking; I’ll be by your side throughout the entire journey. I can’t wait to meet you in your FREE 15-minute consultation or our first session together. I am excited to help you take charge of your own life’s narrative!
